If SFC didn’t help or was unable to repair the corrupted files, it’s time to use DISM. This is another system utility that helps in repairing Windows system images and other files. Users should keep in mind to only use DISM after exhausting all other options. To run DISM do the following:

• Click on Start Menu.
• Type Command Prompt in the Search box, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
• If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
• At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press enter: DISM.exe /ONLINE /cleanup-image /Scanhealth followed by: DISM.exe /ONLINE /cleanup-image /Restorehealth

System File Checker is a Windows Utility that allows users to scan for corruption in Windows system files and restore corrupted files:

• Click on Start Menu.
• Type Command Prompt in the Search box, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
• If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
• At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press enter: sfc /scannow
• After the process is finished, you may receive one of the following messages:
  • Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
  • Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.
  • Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
  • Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
